Giveaway #3 - A #10 Can of Seeds! (**Giveaway now closed**)

(*This giveaway is closed*)

Today's giveaway is sponsored by Heather from Shelf Reliance! Heather is offering a #10 can of garden vegetable seeds. We've never given away something like this on the blog, so we're excited!

Garden seeds might seem like an unconventional "food storage" item, but food storage is all about self reliance, right? I love the idea of being able to buy a whole can of seeds to store with the rest of my food storage. I also love the idea that I could potentially have fresh veggies available to me even if we were living off our food storage (during the right season, of course).

This #10 can contains seeds for beans, beets, cabbage, carrots, corn, cucumber, lettuce, onions, peas, peppers, radishes, spinach, summer squash, winter squash, and tomatoes. Also included is a "how-to" guide for planting and growing your garden. Even if you don't have a yard for gardening, some of these plants do really well in porch containers!

To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this post telling us:

What do you love most about Fall? (or, if you live in a more tropical climate, what do you miss most about Fall, assuming you have experienced it before!)

One comment per person, please. Giveaway will close tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. EDT and a winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

Feel free to check out Heather's Shelf Reliance store for more products! These cans of veggie seeds would make great Christmas gifts, for yourself or others! (In fact, Heather did her own review of this product here)

Heather also has a blog called Cooking With My Food Storage that you should check out. She's currently giving away a Harvest Shelf, so you won't want to miss that!

I live in Arizona where fall is but a fleeting minute and can only be found by seeking it out in the mountains. I love, love, love the colors of fall and would love to experience the pure joy of leaves changing in mass.

I wait all year for October, for crisp sunny days and snuggly sweaters. It's the ideal season to prepare long, slow braises, stews and soups... hearty breads and cobblers... roasted root veggies. Welcome fall!

What do I love most about Fall? Being in Texas, fall signifies the end to the intense heat. I especially love October, when the overnight temperature finally dips into the 40's!

Gee, it's hard to pick just one favorite. I love so many things about fall. The clothes, the way the bed feels at night, not being sweaty and uncomfortable all of the time, chili, apple pie. I guess my very favorite is the way the air smells and feels, crisp and clean, even in my smog-filled Atlanta suburb.

Sariah said...

I would have to say the cooler temperatures, the smells that come with the baking that gets done and the holidays.

Fall doesn't exist here in the desert. We celebrated the arrival of Fall yesterday with 104 degree weather. I dearly miss watching the leaves change color and that crisp, fresh feeling in the air.

I grew up in Southern Cal, where there was not a real sense of autumn. Moving to the Pacific Northwest, I am gobsmacked (to quote my sweetheart) by the colors, the change in the slant of the sunlight, the crisp feeling in the air. I love it. My favorite season, discovered after I turned forty. I hope life holds a few more incredible surprises for me. :)

I love the cooler nights, the warmer quilts we pull out, and I especially love CANNING! We did cherries early in the summer, but now is the rush of peaches, tomatoes, and pears! Next up is apples. It makes me so happy to see those joy filled jars lining up in the pantry!

What I love most about fall is making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies with my daughter. :)

I miss the transition of crispness in the air between summer and fall. On the Gulf coast of FL fall seems to last only a day or two and the maple leaves won't change color until Jan when the temps really drop.

I love baking pumpkin pies, leaves changing in the East, leaf piles raked up high, and the smell of fall. You know the one, where you wake up and just know its fall outside, LOVE IT!

Fall is a favorite time for me. Due to allergies, pollen is not as bad as spring so I can enjoy the cool weather.

Betty Steward said...

Fall in south central Texas is a blessed relief from un-relenting heat of the summer. Fall is the time when I can safely plant in my little garden, and know that my veggies won't be cooked on the vine. Fall means that the holidays are close behind, and that soon, I'll see family that I may not have seen since last year.

Elaine said...

This is my first Fall to live in an area without the beautiful turning of the leaves. I miss the crunch of walking on fallen leaves also. It is predicted to be 101 degrees today and we are going to swim this morning. It just does not seem right.

The thing I love most about the fall is finally being done with the garden chores...pulling up that last tomato plant is quite rewarding :)

Fall is a magical time of year and my favorite season. I love the smell of fall, the rainbow of colors and the crisp air that's not too cold yet. And for me, it's the time when I celebrate the anniversary of being married to the man of my dreams.

I love Fall, after over 35 days of temps over 110 this summer and the rest pretty hot too, it is now time to go out and garden again. Would love to use those seeds.

I hate to see summer come to an end, but the abundance of the fall harvest always makes me grateful. I love seeing the wonderful fall leaves, and the variety of color in the garden produce. I don't mind a football game or two, and I love laying on the grass in the fall and watching the clouds...the sun is much gentler in the fall.
