It's Tuesday

Every Tuesday, we post specific items you should gather in order to supplement your 72-hour kit, your 3-month supply, and your longer-term storage. If you are new to our blog, don't worry! You won't be left behind. Just start up where we are and follow along. You will eventually have everything completed! Once the 72-hour kit is complete, we'll be putting together emergency car kits again (week by week). Once those are done, we'll gather the 72-hour kits again. So don't worry, just jump on in and join us where we are today!

This week for your 72-hour kits, add a small first aid kit. You can buy them ready-made or put one together yourself. The Red Cross has a great list of things to add if you decide to do that. You can also find ready-made kits at WalMart or even online for under $15.

How is your three-month supply coming along? Besides storing food and water, don't forget other essentials like toilet paper and soap. My goal is to have everything I need for 3 months, so I don't ever have to leave my house for 3 months if I didn't need to.

When it comes to storing your three-month supply, make up a food plan and buy according to that. We have a ready-made three month food plan for you, along with the complete shopping list, in our e-book. This is a great option if you are having trouble coming up with enough non-perishable recipes, or if you just don't have time to sit down and plan it all out!

This month for our longer-term storing, we are gathering beans. Don't know much about beans? Check out the "bean series" we shared with you last March. Don't know how to cook with beans? Check out our bean recipes. They use all non-perishables, so they're perfect recipes to have in your three month plan.

Want to buy beans already canned up in #10 cans? Check out LDSCatalog.com. All prices include shipping.

I have never made bread before and want to store wheat to turn into flour. I keep reading recipes that call for adding bread flour to the wheat flour. Is that necessary? Do you have a good wheat flour recipe?
What is bread flour and how do you make.
Thanks for your time.
