I don't know about you, but February always seems like the longest month to me (although in reality, we all know it's the shortest). It's gray outside, the trees are still dead, and the cold weather just seems to linger on and on. Do you feel the same way?
So... what better way to cheer ourselves up than to have another GIVEAWAY!! That's right - and this time, we're focusing on first aid.
As we work on our first aid projects, it's vital to remember the importance of knowing first aid. Even a basic first aid knowledge could save someones life. These little cards from Nuru help you do just that - they're little flashcards with different first aid techniques. They address topics like choking, shock, stroke, burns, and internal bleeding (just to name a few). The cards have step by step directions (and some pictures) that leave no room for error.
I really like these cards, and I know you will too. Having them in my 72-hour kit helps me feel just that much more prepared.
Thanks, Nuru, for helping us keep our families safe!
We will be giving away TWO (yep, 2) decks of these cards. All you have to do to enter is make a comment! One comment per person, please. Answer this question....
Where do you keep your 72-hour kits (or, if you don't have them yet, where will you keep them)?
I keep mine in my office closet, along with the majority of my food storage. But Abs and I want to hear where YOU keep yours... because you guys are always giving us (and each other) great inspiration!
Good luck! The contest will close this Friday night (Feb 20th) at midnight, EST.

We keep our 72 hour kits as close as we can to the front entry of our house in a closet meant for linens and small kitchen appliances, etc. We keep linens in a hope chest at the foot of our bed and towels in the bathroom. This made room for our six 72 hour kits.
I am keeping mine under my bed,it is still a work in progress. But even a little progress is,ya know, progress, lol.

Our 72-hour kits are in the Master closet. I'd love to add those cards to it!
shaylenejohnson at hotmail dot com
They're in our hall closet. Thanks for the chance to win!!! :)
We keep ours in the office. It seriously needs to be updated, though. We've had 2 kids since we've made it! lol
Our 72 hour kits are in our attached garage. We have hooks along the wall and each backpack is hung on a hook ready to be grabbed as we evacuate our house.:0
In the laundry room by the back door. Great giveaway!
We'll keep ours in the coat closet next to the front door. Thanks for giving us the chance at the cards. :)
Our kit (minus canned goods) is on my back step in the garage. You have to pass by it to get to the car! It is in a tote container to keep any critters at bay, well-labeled so even my grandbabes can identify it, and there is nothing on top of it that has to be moved to access it. The balance of the kit contents (canned goods, water) is in the pantry closet next to the door leading into the garage from my kitchen.
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into maintaining this website and educating us on how to be self-reliant.
ours are in the bottom of our master bdrm closet
We keep ours in the master bedroom, right next to the dresser. I hate that I can see it everyday but it is pretty well hidden in the corner. The reason it is there is because we just finished building a large pantry (just yesterday actually) and so have been using the guest bedroom closet as our pantry. As soon as that closet it is emptied out, that is where they will go. :)
We actually just leave ours in our cars - one in each car. I like to know that it's there if either one of us needed it on the road.
We keep ours under our bed. Thanks for the chance to win those great cards. agarrett1422@gmail.com
in the coat closet near the front door. thanks for all your hard work! Lorie
Love your blog! Thanks for this great giveaway! I don't have one yet...but it will be kept in a closet in the basement.
Still working on ours, just happy we have anything in our 72 hour kits at this point! I kind of wished we'd been able to start this before there were 9 of us in the family... it wouldn't have been as much of a project! Right now our 72 hour kids are in a cubby in our kitchen (kind of under a built in desk). However, some of the water is in the van. We will eventually get it to a better location.
We keep our 72 hour kits in a closet next to the garage door. In case of an emergency, we can grab them and go in an instant.
We have all 8 of ours in our master bedroom. We have the regular backpacks under the shelves and the larger ones in front of the shelf. I'm excited to hear where everyone else has them.
Thanks!
Don't have ours yet, but we'll probably keep them on a shelf in the garage near the garage door, so we can load them quickly. (Uh, since I don't have them yet, I wonder if we have to worry about them freezing??)
We have one in our 72 hour kit, I am also working one getting basic ones put together for each of our cars.
Ours are in the coat closet by the front door.
We keep them in our laundry room.
Coat closet by the front door.
We keep our 72 hour kits in our storage room which is right by the back door. It's easily accessible and out of the way! Thanks for the giveaway! It's a great one!
We keep our kits in the closet under our stairs that's right by the front door. We have a little portable file cabinet that we have copies of important documents in there too so we can grab it in an emergency.
We keep our 72-hour kits in the trunks of our cars. I know that this probably isn't the best place but the thing is, my dad made them for my husband and me, and he got a little bit carried away--to the point that I can't lift them up by myself. So this way, at least, they're mobile!
I keep mine in the spare bedroom. I also have the problem of not being able to lift them very well. Lets hope we dont have to walk away from the house. The water is stored in the garage. 1 case for each family member.
Ours are in the living room behind the tv.
We keep ours in the car trunk. We live in the mountains and snow, so especially in the winter it's nice to know if I get stuck the kids and I will have food, water, cash, and other necessities. If we drive away, they're already packed; if we need to walk away or use them in our home, they are easy to access.
The "good" ones in the garage. By the garage door and water for an easy reach/grab.(they'd be the ones with the real food and little extras that will be nice to have in an emergency) The personal ones are in each of our cars and Thor also has one at his office for he and the other workers.
Keep up the great blog!
if only they made cards that eliminated squeamishness!
We keep our 72-hour kits in a storage room which just happens to be right by the garage.
Each member of the family has a backpack with their 72 hr kit in their closet. The theory is that not all the kits are in one spot in case we can't get to one area of the house.
We keep our kits in the front closet! Those cards are so handy, thanks!
I'm working on my 72 hour kit and I would love to have these cards. I will look forward to seeing them in the mail.
I have not yet started putting together our 72-hour kits, but getting it done is my goal this spring. I plan to keep them under my bed. That way, they will be out of the way, but will be all together and easy to get to.
We keep ours in the closet under our stairs, right by the garage. Out of the way, but easily accessible.
Ours are in the office closet, which is the closest room to both the garage door and front door for evacutation sake. I would love to leave them hung in the garage, but living in AZ prevents me from doing that since there is food in them. Thanks for another great giveaway!
We keep ours by the back door. We will have to move them in the summer though as we will use that door again....(frozen shut right now!)
Ours are being restructured and are currently in a laundry basket in the basement.
I think I would like to keep them in my bedroom or master closet as that's where we have the most space to store them (aside from the nasty basement).
The two we have are in our basement on a shelf, next to some of our long term storage items. I need to get going on 4 more kits for my kids; that's one of my goals this year.
I'm glad you're doing a first-aid giveaway; I'm the type to always panic and not keep it together in an emergency; having a card to follow would definitely help!
Ours are in the mud room. THe backpacks hang on hooks and we have the food kits up above on the shelf. At first it seemed like it was in the way, but now its fine, and since we see it all the time, we will remember right where it is in an emergency!
Basement, although they should be somewhere better.
We keep each person's backpack on the backside of the door in their room. That way, in an emergency, we can grab and go as we are walking out of our rooms. This looks like a great giveaway!
mine are in the basement, but I think they need a new spot
I keep two, actually. One in the truck with my BOB, and another by my door! Guess I just want to be sure that I am ready, just in case!
Nice idea, these cards!
We keep our 72 hour kit in a storage closet in our living room. It's where I keep my food storage as well,
Our 72 hour kits are under a table at the end of our kitchen, hidden by a wonderful toile cloth. Close, unseen and ready to go!
Our kit is in our downstairs coat closet. I enjoy reading your blog. thanks for all of the information.
Our kit is in our bedroom closet... we don't have much storage space in our apartment.
Ours, which need to be revisited, is on the large armoire in the guest room, commonly known as "Uncle Jon's room."
We've got a large walk-in pantry so we keep ours in there. They're still a work in progress though.
72 hour kits are in our hall closet on our main floor...
These are really great as addition to a 72 hour kit. They're nice and small too.:)
We keep our 72 hour kits on hooks in the basement, just inside the door. This is new place to store them. We used to have them further into the basement, at the back of our utility room.
Joyce
We keep a main 72 hour kit (that actually isn't complete, but we're slowly working on it) by the front door inside a bench that opens. We keep our individual ones (with everybody's clothing, a little food, flashlights, etc.) by our beds or hanging on a hook on our bedroom doors....it makes it easy access just in case we have to hurry and run.
We keep them in the coat closet, by the vacuum cleaner. Still need to put diapers in them...
Front closet
I have a storage room/laundry room that has entrance to our garage. I bought backpacks and some hooks and hung them in a line on the wall by door. (up high so my kids wouldn't get into the fruit snacks) As I gather new items I put them right in the bag they belong in. I am excited to have them all ready, but hope to never use them:)
We keep two in our car and the rest with our food storage in the closet.
We keep ours in our bedroom. I was thinking to go thru them again and see if there is anything I overlooked. Maybe I'll make an inventory list for each.
Mine is in my bedroom, as I am frequently getting things out or putting things in [like meds, etc.]
My husband's and daughter's kits are in our office closet. Since I don't have a car kit yet, I decided to keep my 72-hr kit in the car, since if I ever do need it at home I can quickly grab it from the trunk and since it seems more likely I'll need this kind of thing if I'm stuck on the road somewhere.
I appreciate all your hard work. I've used many of your instructions and suggestions. I keep our kits (they are still a work in progress) in the coat closet by the front door. I live in AZ and our coats don't take up much room so there is plenty of space for the kits.
We keep ours hanging up in the garage and go through them every six months (great FHE) to update, change clothes, etc. I just got my first aid kit put together in one spot in our home and whew! It has already come in so handy to have everything in one place!
we keep ours right next to our front door in our coat closet.
I don't have an official kit put together yet but I will probabl keep it in my storage room. Thanks for the awsesome giveaway.
We keep ours in the foyer closet, though it needs a little re-vamping. We also keep mini-kits in our cars. This may not work for everyone, as some trunks are itty-bitty. But it works out for us well.
Ours aren't fully assembled yet, but we keep ours under our beds. The kids know where to find them and can get them out easily if they need to.
Thank you so much for keep up this AWESOME site! I have loved everyone's ideas and it has been so motivating for me to become more self-reliant! Thanks a ton!
I would love these!
Our 72-hour kits are in our spare room thank goodness for one of those...I mean really where would everything go if i didn't have one.
We keep our 72-hour kids in closet in our office! It is the room closest to the front door.
Today I took an inventory of all of our food storage. I was excited to find out that I am doing pretty well!!
Thanks for all that you do.
We are still gathering ours but then half will be placed under the bed (clothes, paperwork, etc.) and the other half will be near our most frequently used exit in a closet. Thanks for the giveaway!
My BOB lives in the garage.
Under my bed in a few backpacks and duffle bags.
We keep ours in the entry way closet (where coats and such should be). That way, if we have to run out in a hurry, everything is right there on the way out! We also have a change of clothes for each member of the family just in case we end up having to leave in the middle of the night.
We keep ours in a cabinet above our coat closet right by our front door. Easy to grab and go. We are currently working on redoing ours. They have food and water, but still need other personal items needed just for us such as contact solution and meds. By the way... I am really enjoying this site. Thanks for all your hints. We are ordering an organization system for our basement we are redoing that we saw on your site. Thanks!
We keep ours lined up on a shelf in our garage right next to where the car is parked, so that we could grab them and go. We also have the extra water supply & first aid kit there as well.
Great website - you guys do a good job on it!
in the basement...probably not the best place! :)
We keep ours in the spare bedroom closet. Awesome giveaway!
Our 72 hour kits are in the front closet.
Hoping to add those!
We are still working on ours but I plan on keeping them near the front door.
We don't have our 72 hour kit yet... but maybe through this public display of throwing my dear hubby under the bus... we'll finally get one lol..jk jk jk! Our deal... I do food storage... he does 72 hour kit. When we do finally have one... I think we will put it in our laundry room because it is pretty centrally located in our home!
We keep ours in the office closet near the door to the garage. Really easy to grab and go. I love reading where everyone put's theirs. It give me better ideas to store it in the future!
We keep ours under our washer. We have a front loader with a storage drawer underneath. We keep our 72 hour kit there along with a waterproof/fireproof handheld safe with all of our important documents locked inside.
I keep mine in the trunk of my car. Thanks for the great giveaway!
In the basement in the closet. Probably not hte best place, guess I need to work on that.
In the coat closet, next to the front door.
We keep ours hanging in the garage right next to the door. Easy to grab and hop in the car!
I'm new to your site, so I haven't even checked out what this is. I will be as I think this is great information for everyone to know. I'll be reading more for sure!

We keep ours in our bedroom closet.
libctr@yahoo.com
I have a hook in the garage for my backpacks and everything else ready to go right under that. I just became the emergency preparedness specialist for my neighborhood so I went through and made sure I was prepared first:)I linked this iste to my new blog in hopes others can benefit from these great ideas. Thanks for the help!
We keep ours in our coat closet, although since we keep adding more packs, we need to put them on the floor, I think.
Thanks for all you guys do!
Ours are hanging from hooks in the ceiling in our basement. We have alot of tornadoes around here, so we keep most emergency supplies in the basement.
Mine is in the front hall closet, right by the front and garage doors. My husband's is in the bedroom closet and my son's is right inside his bedroom door. At this time of year (winter in New England) we keep a general emergency bag in each car with water, food bars, and emergency blankets.
We keep ours in our master bedroom closet. Thanks for the giveaway! I love your blog! Thanks for sharing your wisdom :)!
Ours will be in our hallway closet. Thanks for the giveaway!
Ours is a work in progress, but when finished it will be kept in the master bedroom closet. We live in a tiny apartment right now, but someday when we get a house I plan to keep them in the garage.
We keep our 72 hour kits on a shelf in our laundry room--which is the entrance out to the garage if we were leaving in our cars in a hurry.
We keep ours in the closet of our spare bedroom. And we have some in our truck.
We keep our kits in our room, under the bed. These would make a great addition to our kit!
We keep our kits in our closet underneath the stairs. People have recommended putting them in our car but I just don't know how the food would survive it - I could definitely use these cards though! Thanks!
Ours is not yet complete but we're working on it. Our 72 hour kits are in our spare room upstairs with our emergency supplies. We have a small home with limited storage space.
We're still working on them so they are under the table in the entry way so I get mad every time I see them. I'm such a procrastinator
We have a food storage room in an outbuilding behind our house (one advantage to living in the country!) and we have our big kit out there, but I also want to put together one to keep in the mud room by our front door - it would be far more accessible! Thank you!
We keeps ours in the closet by the front door. We have almost everything we need, but not quite. Line upon line.... :)
Ours are in a closet under our stairs.
We keep our kits on the shelf in the laundry room. It is near the door on the way out to the garage, so we can grab it and jump in the car. Hmmm cars should remain gassed up too.
In the basement. Soon to be on a set of shelves we're installing for food storage. I'm just finally getting on the bandwagon with all of this!
We keep our 72 hour kits near our garage door exit.
We keep ours in a closet downstairs, but we should probably move them closer to an exit.
In the closet. I love your blog.
We keep them in our car trunks, one in each trunk just in case. Pick me!
In the safe room.
What a neat idea! I am in the process of putting together a bigger first aid kit in a (new) tackle box - these look like they would fit better than me trying to shove an actual manual in there.
Our individual bags are in a large plastic tote that also contains a medium first aid kit, blanket, sleeping bags, and battery-powered lantern. The entire thing is in the storage closet in our living room, which is also where the water storage and such are. That way if we are staying in during an emergency it's all in one place; if I have to grab and go, my 7 yo can push it out of the closet while I grab the toddler and we head to the car. :-)
We keep ours in a closet in our
3rd room. Definitely a work in progress though. You really have an amazing blog and it looks like tons of people benefit from it!
We are still in desperate need of starting ours. My first thought would have been our basement where short and long food storage is kept. However after reading others comments it totally occurred to me that it should be kept in a readily accessible place. I really like the idea of having them on hooks in the garage.
It's in our pantry - bottom shelf - which also happens to be the closest closet to the front door.
I keep mine in the car so that it's available at home or work.
We keep ours in the garage.
We have a coat closet near the front door, and it is now our "storage closet. It contains 5 -72 hour kits extra flashlights and batteries, and 165 1 gallon containers of water.
Well, I had one in my car, but I brought it inside to update it and there it sits in the kitchen. Sigh. This will motivate me to finish updating it and put it back in the car.

Since we don't have a coat closet, we keep ours on the top shelf of our bedroom closet. Out of the way but accessible (as long as my tall husband or a stool are nearby) -- in case of an earthquake, I'm hoping they fall to the floor. :D
Work in progress. But we have our packs in a closet in our junk room. In an earthquake we'd never be able to get them out because the room's such a mess! I should work on that.
Each family member has their kit on the top shelf in their closet. We all change the food and juice/water items around each general conference with each person packing their own. That way they know what it is in it, and have a say in what foods they'd like.
Having first aid cards in the packs will be a great benefit and stress-buster should something happen that requires first aid.
These cards look fabulous ! My kit is in corridor closet - en route to car port. Have a small car kit also, both need work ! Jeni
In the closet under our stairs, which is by the door to the garage. Out of sight, cool and dark, and easy to grab as we run out the door.
We keep ours under the desk by the back door so we can grab it and go whenever we need to--which is almost every hurricane season these days.
WE keep our 72 hour kits in our car. We probably should move them to a closet. Would love these cards.
suzie
We keep ours in the close that holds our air conditioner.
In the closet by the front door.
We currently have our kits under a table in our front room (near the front door). However, I have recieved an 'inspiration' to place them on the top racks in my laundry room, since it has an outlet to the back door.
We keep our 72 hur kits under our stairs in the garage. It's probably not the best place. I'm glad you asked. Perhaps I should rethink it.
My 72 Hour Kits are in the hall closet.
We don't have ours yet, but if we did we would keep them in the coat closet next to our front door.
Right now, my B-)-B is sitting on a chair in my kitchen - because I'm working on it. I need to incorporate the items I picked up at the dollar store this past weekend into it. After that, it will 'live' in the living room closet, right on top of the kitty carriers.
But maybe I'll wait to see if I have first aid cards to pack inside... :)
This is a great giveaway - oh, and I check your site every day. There's always some good information to be found!
We keep our kit on a shelf with our camping gear in the garage...so if we need to leave, we have it all right there, ready to go!
Our kits are in our master bedroom closet, which is where we would be sheltering in place during a storm.
Ours in on a gorilla rack in the garage with the majority of our food storage. I just found your blog and I'm super excited, it looks very thorough and organized!
I haven't made them yet but I've got some of the supplies for them. I plan on hanging them up in the garage.
I keep mine in my garage so it's right by the car. When a big storm is in the area, we sometimes put the kits by the front door, just in care (we live along levees)
We keep ours in our fruit room with the rest of our food storage, we are planning this year to also keep at least one in each of our cars, and one at my husbands office, just incase.
~Monique
We converted a downstairs "coat closet" into an extra food storage space. We put our 72 hour kits in there in a rolling garbage can.
In a backpack in our basement.
in the garage!!!!
We keep ours by the bedroom door for easy access on the way out!
snakan0(at)hotmail(dot)com
Our 72 hr. kits are kept in backpacks in the front closet under all the coats! ... And some other bigger equip. (tools and such) in a bucket inside the garage.
In the garage!!
amberleejensen(at)gmail(dot)com
in the closet space closest to the main entry of our home
Ours are in the "food room", my son's in his closet, and two girls' under their beds. Not entirely convenient to access but had to stash them wherever we could find a place in our little house!
All of ours are hanging up on pegs in the laundry room, ready to grab on the way out.
Those cards are such a great idea.
In the fruit room.
Hanging on the wall of our garage.
I will keep my 72-hour kit in the double-doored coat closet that is right inside our front door. There is lots of extra floor space on one side.
Ours are right next to the back door until I get them totally finished. Then they will go on a shelf under the stairs. I like the idea of hooks in the garage though!
Thanks so much for all of your hard work. It really is helping so many people, you probably don't even realize how far-reaching it is!!
We keep ours right by the front door so we could grab it on the way out. The food is in our pantry.
we keep ours in our garage. it is still a work in progress!
Mine are in a bedroom closet. I keep meaning to go through them and move them elsewhere, but that seems like the best place for now. I have one in my car too, but need to get one together for my husband's car.
The backpacks for our 72 hours kits are in the closet under my dresses and next to my shoes, while the water is above my husband's shirts.
oh, how fun! we keep ours on the top shelf of the closet in our spare bedroom.
We keep our emergency kit in the laundry room, which is right next to the front door. I like these cards!
Ours are under our bed, but I like the idea about hooks in the garage, perhaps I'll have to reconsider!
I keep mine in the closet in my baby's room, but it should probably go in the garage!
jmojmo24 at gmail dot com
I am new to this blog and only have my $25 from this week for my 72-hour kit. I have committed to continue though and am looking forward to keeping my kits in my hall closet.
Ashley
We had ours in our coat closet by the front doow, but when we moved we realized that most of the things were expired. We are now working on rebuilding them, then they will either be in the coat closet by the door again, or in the car.
Still working on them...I plan to put them in the closet by our front door.
I keep them in my bedroom closet. Our room is actually right by the front door, and there is no room in the entry closet.
We don't have any extra space in our place, especially since we have been adding to our food storage. So we keep our 72 hour kits in our storage closet which isn't in our apartment but it is right on the way out of the building. We also keep an emergency kit in our car... just in case!
Ours are kept in plastic bins in the office closet with the cat carrier. I've been looking for a medical reference to include!
We keep ours in the entryway closet right by the front door for an even quicker getaway should the need arise.
Ours are on the floor of an upstairs linen closet that was converted to an overflow pantry (right outside the master bedroom).
We are in the process of building ours and are going to keep them in our coat closet at the bottom of our stairs.
I am in the process of getting ours started, but when it is done I plan on keeping it in the garage in a big tote.
We keep them in the closet by the front door along with our stash of batteries and our big 5-gallon bucket of food. Have you seen those at Costco.com?
Under my bed will be where I put them when I get them done. You guys rock! I love a good giveaway!
In the garage. Along with the rest of our food storage that needs to be built up. Thanks for the help!
