This week for your 72-hour kits, gather a utility knife (a box cutter) and a bucket (preferably a 5-gallon one). Like the ax and shovel we gathered last week, you probably won't store your bucket with your kits, so just add it to your little list of additional things to grab if you need to leave in an emergency. A utility knife is especially handy because of its safety features. If you already have a pocket knife or something similar, that would work as well.
This week for my 3-month supply, I'm going to start focusing on desserts. If you look hard enough, you can find brownie mixes (or cake mixes) that only call for water. These are perfect food storage items for pantry-only meals.
How is your wheat (longer-term supply) coming along? Tomorrow, Abs will be showing us how to grind wheat, and on Friday we'll have another great wheat recipe to share. Stay tuned!

Look for 'gift in a jar' recipes and make your own desert packages. Rather than put these recipes in a jar I use my food sealer. Just a thought. Love your blog. :o)
