The Simple Dollar put out a post this week about today's economic situation. The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself has nothing to do with food storage but I think it's important to us anyway. When we follow the commandments of God, there is no room for fear in our lives. As we keep plugging along gathering food storage as we can, we build faith knowing that the Lord will bless us and our families for our efforts. With our lives centered in God and the importance of eternal families we have no cause to fear.
Scared of living without butter? Fear no more! Green Apple Orchard has a tutorial on how to bottle butter that lasts for 3-5 years! Go check it out. Note that you can get butter for less when you buy it in the pound instead of in individually wrapped cubes. That would work just fine for this.

I have a set up like this in my dining room. It's turned sideways, only one can deep, and only takes about 7-8 inches out of the room's space. Depending on how long the wall is, it can hold tons of food to be rotated. Good place to store the wet pack canned foods.
Thanks for giving the link to the bottled butter on another blog! I've been wondering how to store butter for a while now. I'm excited to try this out!
I love your blog! thanks for the help and ideas!
Hey Hannah and Abs, I did the butter (actually got the recipe from a different source, but the very same recipe--only I melted my butter in the microwave)and it worked GREAT!!!! I am making some more on Thursday but already have some in my closet. It is so easy and takes very little time. Give it a try everyone! love mom W
Just found you blog today, and I love it.
I have real blue prints with measurements and how to's. How to build rotating shelving of different sizes to fit the small cans all the way up to #10 size cans. With all the products that you will need. I can mail them as they are on legal sized paper, and my scanner isn't that big. e-mail me at Fralick_elaine@hotmail.com
This idea of storing is something new. I have read about Canned butter that does not melt. It can be stored for long years on a cool dark shelf. Yours one should taken into account.
