See, I can brave the #1 spot too. I actually told our Bishop about your blog yesterday during our combined meeting. His focus was on food/financial preparedness. I guess that I like that you break things down to little week by week things. Food storage has been overwhelming for the newbies for years. Remember the giant packets at RS in Somersworth?

I love "Safely Gathered in" because it makes Food Storage possible! It's like eating an elephant one bite at a time! I can do that! I also like the food storage recipes so I can learn how to use the basics & do things like making freezer jam. You are actually moving a mountain. Me! I have got my car kit started & I feel so good to be making progress now! Thank you for helping me follow the Prophet & getting prepared! Dena

I LOVE this blog! Out of all the blogs I read, this is probably the one I get most excited about!!! (Truly!) I love the recipes and would LOVE to see more. I have quite a substantial food storage already, but I have a hard time rotating because I don't know what to make out of the food. Your suggestions and recipes are wonderful for me! I love that you give assignments weekly. It makes all this feel doable and I love that I'm making progress little by little, rather than feel this all needs to be done at once. Food storage has always been overwhelming to me, UNTIL NOW!! I have shared this blog with everyone I know! Keep up the FABULOUS work!!

I love the babysteps. I mean, who can get a year of food and 72 hour kits for the whole fam and everything else? Well, now I can!

I love how you make things so easy to put together without making me feel so overwhelmed. Thank you for such a wonderful blog!

One thing I would love to have is a basic list of food storage that one should have when you have very limited storage (like next to none). Closet and bedspace in my house is almost non-existant.

Also any good recipes that use oats. I have like 6 cans of them and am getting tired of outmeal and oatmeal cookies.

I think your blog is a great idea. It helps simplify the task. Do you have any information on grinding your own flour and what the pros/cons are of that? Is that necessary? I've just always heard of people doing that and it just seems like a lot of work to me since I have no clue how to go about it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this blog! You two ladies are absoulutely genius! I am an overly organized person to the point that I drive my husband crazy...with the exception of our food storage. I'm always so lost on where to begin and recipes to use. So my favorite thing on the blog is Food Storage Friday. Keep up the good work!

I love everything about this blog and I tell everyone about it. I especially love the recipes. My kids are especially excited to make our own granola bars. Thanks so much for a valuable tool.

I love this blog! I love how you have made it a weekly thing to get your food storage. I also love getting the other kits together. This has really helped me get going on food storage. I do need help with recipes, some of the recipes on here I don't know if I have ever heard of some things in the ingredients, much less have them on hand or stored. I do like seeing the recipes though. I like the idea of the dinner with out electricity, its a good idea.
Thanks for doing this blog!

I love how organized the site is. You have neatly placed on the left side of the screen items you have covered thus far making for a quick review. I also appreciate the baby step process you have set up for readers. It accommodates all kinds of families. I too would like to see more recipes. Finding ways to cook the darn stuff is sometimes mighty challenging. Keep up the great work!

I think the car kit ongoing project is a great idea--allowing people to take baby steps towards preparedness. I appreciate the recipes and encouragement as well. One thing that I am very interested in and am going to do more research on is financial preparedness--different types of life insurance, how to make a will, etc. etc. Just something that I need to learn more about (so if someone else does the work for me, sweet! :-)), and maybe it would help other people as well.

Btw, before I forget, I recently learned that I shouldn't be storing water in the Juicy Juice-type bottles (see http://www.fema.gov/plan/prepare/water). Maybe you already knew that, but I didn't--bummer!

Thanks again for taking the time to share.

My favorite part of this blog is, of course, my granola bars! :) And I really like the emergency car kit! You girls are doing lots of hard work to help us all out. Thanks!

Um, you said one easy question, but that was about five. I like the blog. I put together an impromptu car kit immediately after reading that post (mostly just snacks, but still). I like the encouragement and the little goals you set for us, and the specific ideas you give for how to get prepared.

Hannah- I don't know how you and your friend have found time to work on this but I am grateful to you both! I really appreciated your week #3 post about making 1 or 2 one-week menus and repeating them for three months. I also liked the follow up by Abs with the step-by-step examples. The Friday recipes look great and I am looking forward to seeing more. I would really like to see some examples of vegetable/fruit sides for the dinners. Sometimes I think if I ate my food storage for three months I might die of scurvy because I never think to buy canned fruit. Also, you can only eat so many canned green beans and corn---too bad you can't preserve watermelon and lettuce;) Keep up the great work!! - Lexi
