They are pretty cool, though one of these days I need to test how long they will run without getting any light. It's very deserty where I live, so solar is a great technology for this area.<br /><br />The husband is the biggest deterrent to storing water. I find the easiest thing to do is use the 2L bottles, fill them up, and rotate through them to water my garden. This way the water in them stays pretty fresh, but I have water on hand for an emergency. I also figure that in a true emergency, I'm not going to care if chemicals got into my water, though I do buy bottled water for storing when the husband can be convinced.<br /><br />As for longer term... mostly we shop good sales hard and stock up as much as we can with coupons and sales combined. We recently got a bunch of pasta, and it was ridiculously low price.. $2 for 8.5 lbs of the good stuff (most of it is wheat, but it's all fiber-added).
